If you have been reading LoopedIn or following me on Instagram for the past few months you know I am all about a fitness/health challenge! A lot of you may be wondering why I am always signing up for these things and putting myself through crazy months of not drinking coffee or alcohol, so I am here to tell you why.
I have realized that challenges are my secret weapon to keeping me motivated and on track for living a healthier lifestyle.

1. FEEL THE PRESSURE.
I am someone who falls off of health trends relatively quickly. I usually get a crazy wind of motivation and can't wait to get started on a healthier me, until I reach a certain point and it all crumbles and I go back to my old unhealthy ways. Signing up for challenges is a great tool because it adds a bit of pressure and it keeps me accountable to continuously make positive, healthy choices each day. Here's the thing: I know that this method may not sound all that "positive and healthy" to some people, but I’ve found it’s a method that personally keeps me trudging along. I know that I need to be pushed and held accountable; it’s all about figuring out what works best for you.
2. A CHALLENGE IS A CHALLENGE.
Another reason why I love a challenge so much is because of the fact that IT IS a challenge. Once I complete a full 30 days, I am so freaking proud of myself for working so hard. It instills so much dedication and drive in me which ends up positively trickling into other areas of my life. While I have many hard days in the midst of challenges, accomplishing goal after goal lifts my overall mood and energy. Succeeding even if I didn't do all things perfectly is such an ego booster for me.
3. HAVING A TEAM OF SUPPORTERS.
Having support groups who are with me for the ride is also such a motivator. I have recently met some awesome people during these challenges who I share a lot in common with. We are all striving to be the best versions of ourselves and we are always there for one another with helpful advice, inspiration, a kick in the ass, or a pat on the back. It's comforting knowing that other people are in it with you and understand the struggles or victories that you have along the way.

If you are wondering if I am currently locked into a challenge, the answer is YES! I have just signed up for F45's 8 Week Challenge. F45 is a gym and global fitness community that offers high-intensity group training sessions. The challenge is held four times per year and is both a nutrition and training program focused on holistic well-being over an 8-week period. I am currently on day 3 (so very early days!), but I am more excited than ever to commit to this challenge and be supported by an awesome community.
Leading a healthier lifestyle is all about learning and figuring out what works best for you! The key to this is staying patient. Finding a routine and method definitely does not happen over night and it can actually be interesting and fun to try out new strategies that make you happiest. Whichever path you choose to take my advice is to always remember to listen to both your body and mind -- make sure they are BOTH happy!
